Dublin Diplomatic Conference on Cluster Munitions

The Dublin Diplomatic Conference on Cluster Munitions will take place from 19-30 May 2008 in Dublin, Ireland. It is the crucial conference that will aim at negotiating a new instrument of international humanitarian law banning cluster munitions on the base of the draft treaty text discussed and accepted in Wellington.The Dublin Diplomatic conference is part of the process which began in Oslo in February 2007 and has continued in Lima in May 2007, Vienna in December 2007 and Wellington in February 2008 and it will be attended both by States that have endorsed the Wellington Declaration and by representatives from the civil society.The CMC network of NGOs has already played a key role internationally in the establishment of this new process on cluster munitions. Around the Dublin Diplomatic Conference on Cluster Munitions the CMC will take actions to inform the public, engage with conference delegates and with media to ensure the conference results in a meaningful and robust humanitarian instrument banning cluster munitions.RegistrationRegistration for civil society participants to the Conference will close on March 7 2008.
